Straight answers.
What homeowners ask us most about prep, scheduling, warranty and licensing.
Estimates
How we look at your project and put it in writing.
How do you build an estimate?
We walk the actual job. Square footage, how much prep the surfaces need, siding condition and the number of colors all shape the scope, so we look at it in person instead of guessing over the phone. You get a written estimate and a condition assessment sheet. Estimates are free with no obligation.
Why does the estimate form ask about my investment range?
So we bring the right options to the walkthrough. Knowing whether you are looking at a straight repaint or a full color change with carpentry work changes what we should be showing you. It is not used to inflate a number — the scope and the square footage set the price.
Do you charge for estimates?
No. Our on-site visit is completely free with zero obligation. And we don't just hand you a quote—we perform a comprehensive interior and exterior condition assessment and leave you with a physical sheet you can keep for your permanent home records.
Do you require a deposit?
For most projects yes, with the balance due on completion after the final walkthrough. The exact terms are spelled out in your written estimate before you sign anything.
Scheduling & timing
When we can start, and what happens when Oregon weather moves.
How far out are you booking?
It depends on the season. Spring and summer exterior work books further out than fall and winter interior work. Call and we will tell you honestly where you would land.
What time of year can you paint outside in Oregon?
Generally April through October, when surfaces stay dry and overnight temperatures hold above 50 degrees. Interior work runs year round.
What happens if it rains?
We do not paint over damp siding to hit a date. If weather pushes us, you get a call the same day with the new plan, not a crew that quietly stops showing up.
Do I need to be home while you work?
Not usually. Plenty of our customers are at work all day. We just need access to what we are painting and a way to reach you if a question comes up.
The work itself
Prep, coats, paint lines, and what we do when we find a surprise.
What prep is included?
For exteriors: pressure wash, scrape, sand, spot prime bare wood, caulk open seams, and mask everything not getting coated. For interiors: move and cover furniture, protect floors, patch and sand nail holes and dings, and caulk. Prep is not an upsell — it is the job.
How many coats do you apply?
Two finish coats over properly prepped and primed surfaces, standard. Dramatic color changes sometimes need a third, and we tell you that up front rather than after.
What paint brands do you use?
We work primarily with Sherwin-Williams, Benjamin Moore, Rodda Paint, Miller Paint. Which line we recommend depends on the surface and the exposure, and we will explain the difference rather than just handing you the most expensive option.
What if you find rot after the project starts?
We stop, photograph it, and show you what we found with a written price before going further. Because we do carpentry too, it is a few extra days rather than a stalled project and a second contractor to find.
Licensing & warranty
Who stands behind the work, and for how long.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes — OR CCB# 229544, bonded and insured. We provide certificates of insurance on request for HOAs, property managers and general contractors.
Do you warranty your work?
Yes. Every completed painting project comes with our written 5-Year Workmanship Warranty protecting against peeling, blistering, and flaking, handed to you at the final walkthrough. Coating manufacturer warranties are separate and provide additional product-level coverage.
Is color consultation really free?
Yes, in-home color consultation is 100% free with qualifying paint products. We help you choose cohesive palettes and apply real test paint swatches in your home's natural light so you can approve colors with confidence.
Do you handle lead paint on older homes?
Homes built before 1978 may contain lead paint, and that work has to follow EPA RRP rules. We identify it at the walkthrough and handle it correctly rather than sanding it into your yard.
